Viceroy Road, Stockwell
Mono Ltd were commissioned to provide a complete refurbishment, kitchen build, basement conversion, glass roof dining room extension and two storey rear extension.
The existing basement was excavated and converted to create a cinema room, storage area, bathroom and guest bedroom. Works involved complete underpinning of the property, tanking and replastering works, installation of insulated slabs and flooring, working in conjunction with an air exchange system to ensure a comfortable and liveable environment.
Audio and data installations completed the cinema room experience whilst the installation of windows in the guest room allowed light to enter the space. Purpose built storage areas in the under stair space and newly built bathroom maximised space, whilst the new stairwell was designed to integrate with the existing period staircase.
The kitchen worktop was formed from reclaimed teak laboratory worktops and complimented the commissioned laminated doors and draw fronts. The under floor heated ceramic limestone floor flows into the dining area to create a light and functional family area.
The client wanted to ensure that the build adhered to ecological and green principals as much as possible, and as such Mono Ltd used natural alternatives and eco friendly materials and preservatives where possible including hemp insulation, reclaimed materials and environmentally friendly paints throughout
